What is divine about your fluidity?
– A PRACTICE OF HOLDING FLUIDITY AS SACRED –
Ambiguity lives in everyone. Most of us were taught to call it confusion or weakness; something to resolve before we could be trusted or loved. Divine Fluidity is an artistic practice that helps people return to what’s fluid in them, and to recognize it as sacred wherever they find it. Leaving more room in us for curiosity, for pain, for joy.
Grounded in queer existence and Mexican and border-crossing traditions, the inquiry began around tables. In Oaxaca, Bangkok, Shanghai, and Chicago, queer people gathered over food, laughter, and poetry to sit with one question: what does queerness afford us?
Now that inquiry is becoming a practice, built in public and guided by a second question: what is divine about your fluidity? Writing is shared as it’s made. Gatherings bring people together to stay with what doesn't resolve. Studios across borders, small mesas creativas with artists and thinkers, shape the practice as it forms.

– ABOUT THE CREATOR –
I’m Efraín Gutiérrez, and Divine Fluidity began with a question:
What does queerness afford us, and what can we learn about liberation from queer people?
This question isn’t theoretical, it’s lived. As a queer, poetic, and strategic thinker, I’ve spent years helping people and institutions move through change with care, curiosity, and imagination. Divine Fluidity is an artistic expression of that work: a way to hold space for softness, belonging, and the freedom to become more fully ourselves—together.
This project is an evolving inquiry—an invitation to explore how queerness expands what is possible and reshapes intimacy, belonging, and freedom. The first phase of this inquiry focused on dinners across different cities, documented through poetry and photography. But the work continues. As the project grows, so do the ways of engaging with it.
Through these gatherings, I sought not just to document but to understand—the ways queerness is a force of transformation, a practice of freedom, a celebration of the worlds we create when we come together.
